After 28 years of managing brand identity and operational logistics for both large and small corporations, I realized I was unsatisfied with my success. I had travelled the world and lectured extensively but none of it seemed to matter. I was overdue for a change to rediscover my roots. So, after taking 6 months off to breathe and regroup, AnimAgus was born. It was time to “talk to the animals” again. And I discovered I had a lot to teach.

My philosophy is rooted in my equestrian training. I think gentle communication with love and understanding rather than “commands” is what fosters respect from animals. They need to trust us to have their safety and well-being in mind at all times. You become the pack leader. It takes time to develop that trust. And you cannot fail them by not “being present”. There are physical, verbal and rein cues I use that make working with a dog very similar to riding a dressage horse. It should all look easy, seamless and be rather quiet, belying the extensive communication actually happening. Training animals is a spiritual connection between species based on love, compassion and honesty.
